Dedicated sessions also examined the growing role of <em>artificial intelligence<\/em> and <em>data sharing<\/em> in research on hereditary neuropathies.<\/p>\n<h3>OUR RESEARCH GROUP\u2019S PARTICIPATION<\/h3>\n<p>Thanks to the support and guidance of <strong>Prof. Stefania Corti<\/strong> and <strong>Dr. Federica Rizzo<\/strong>, two young researchers from the group we support at the <strong>Centro Dino Ferrari \u2013 Policlinico \u2013 University of Milan<\/strong>, <strong>Dr. Giulia Pagliari<\/strong> and <strong>Dr. Martina D\u2019Agostino<\/strong>, took part in the conference.<\/p>\n<p>They presented a <strong>poster<\/strong> highlighting the advances and experimental results of our research project on <strong>CMT2A \u2013 Mitofusin 2 (MFN2)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>We are proud to see the growing international interest in <strong>CMT2A<\/strong>, with as many as <strong>four research projects on Mitofusin 2<\/strong> presented: our Italian study, one from France, one from the United States, and one from the United Kingdom.<br \/>\nThis international engagement gives hope for a faster path toward future therapeutic breakthroughs.<\/p>\n<h3>MAIN STUDIES ON MITOFUSIN 2 \u2013 CMT2A PRESENTED IN ANTWERP<\/h3>\n<p><strong>PL3-01 \u2013 Nathalie Bernard Marissal (Universit\u00e9 Aix-Marseille, France)<\/strong><br \/>\nPresented two therapeutic approaches for CMT2A: a <em>gene therapy<\/em> and a <em>pharmacological approach<\/em> using <strong>IFB-088<\/strong>. Both strategies showed promising results that deserve further exploration.<\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udc49<em>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.progettomitofusina2.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Bernard-marissal-aix-marseille.pdf\">PL3-01 Bernard-Marissal \u2013 Aix Marseille\u00a0<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>P14 \u2013 Katherine Forsey (CMT Association, USA\/UK)<\/strong><br \/>\nDescribed the creation of an <em>in vitro motor neuron model<\/em> with the <strong>MFN2 R364W<\/strong> mutation, useful for studying the axonal and mitochondrial deficits typical of the disease.<br \/>\nThe study highlights the advantages of human cell models for faster and more efficient research.<\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udc49 Project<\/strong><br \/>\nPresented by <strong>Dr. Martina D\u2019Agostino<\/strong>, within the group coordinated by <strong>Prof. Stefania Corti<\/strong> and <strong>Dr. Federica Rizzo<\/strong>.<br \/>\nThe study demonstrated that <strong>increasing MFN1 protein levels in a murine model of CMT2A<\/strong> has a highly protective effect, improving both axonal and mitochondrial (iPSC)<\/strong> carrying the <strong>R94Q<\/strong> mutation, obtained through the <strong>CRISPR\/Cas9<\/strong> gene editing technique.<br \/>\nThis model allows detailed study of <em>axonal Antwerp conference represented an important moment of <strong>scientific exchange<\/strong> and <strong>international collaboration<\/strong>, as well as recognition of the work carried out within our
